Kuru Kula Vadhu - The Women of Kuru Family

Hi

My first post in this blog would be on my all time love, the great epic Mahabharata.

I don't want to hide my feministic nature for I dedicate my first posts to the women of Kuru House hold in the great epic. The women here prove to each letter, the old proverb that a woman is the main driver success or destruction of a man.

I intend to cover the following Characters

1) Sathyavathi - The Mother
2) Amba - The rejected Bride
3) Gandhari - The sacrifice of sight
4) Kunti - The Queen
5) Krishnaa Draupadi - The Reply

A foreword

My knowledge of Mahabharata is limited to Amar Chitra Katha, and the books written by Sri Rajagopalachari and Smt Kamala Subramaniam. I am starting to read the translation by Sri Kisari Mohan Ganguli.

I would try to re construct the legendary story around every woman in my posts. I shal clearly demarcate between the legendary belief and my view of the character. I do not intend to mock or disprove or brand the thought of Vyasa as a mere fantasy. My only intention is to understand the significance of the epic in today's logic. The fifth veda, as the epic is praised, is surely an age less saga which has the significance that can hold good in this modern era too. This is my attempt to step towards it.

In all my posts, I would end it with "incomplete - to be edited" or "Completed". This is with an intention of correcting any possible errors or mis understandings that could have taken place. I heavily depend upon the readers and their constructive criticism to give out a close to flawless series of writings. I shall look forward for your comments on each post.

I proceed to start after offering my Salutations to the two great male characters (am not that much a feminist mind you!) of the epic. Krishna, The lord and Krishna Dwaipayana, The master. May the two help me not to deviate from the right path of thought and interpretation
